August 31st, 2015

Trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig have been thrilled with the form and class displayed by Dibayani since his arrival in Australia, but have revealed the results of a track gallop at Moonee Valley this week will determine a start in Saturday’s Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m) for the talented import.

Posting an impressive two wins and eight minors through fourteen career starts so far, Dibayani debuted to Australian racing with a competitive performance for third in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 15th; stamping his claims as one to following through the 2015 Spring Carnival.

The Moonee Valley racing surface is internationally renowned as very unique, and Hayes told AAP the team has decided testing the Shamardal gelding at the venue is imperative prior to the 2015 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

“He’s come through his first-up run really well,” Hayes said.

“He’s going to have a gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday and if he pleases me I will run him.”

Having caused at hassle for attendants and jockey Damien Lane loading into the barriers for the PB Lawrence, Hayes confirmed the team will also work on the process prior to the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

“He got his test out of the way the week after and he was fine,” Hayes said.

“We’ll probably take him around in a hood and then take it off at the gates.”

Dibayani arguably found career-best form to date through his 2015 racing campaign; returning for fourth in the Chek Keng Handicap (1400m) before finishing third in each of the Group 1 Hong Kong Classic Mile (1600m) and Group 1 Hong Kong Derby (2000m).

Unlucky to be blocked for a run late when fifth in the Group 1 QEII Cup (2000m), the gelding out of Dibiya returned to the paddock following a close second in the Group 1 Champions & Chater Cup (2400m) on May 25th.

The 2015 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
