Early favourite for the 2014 Melbourne Cup, trainer Gai Waterhouse has confirmed The Offer in the final field for 2014 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

Beginning his racing career under the care of leading Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien before transferring to Waterhouse’s stable at the conclusion of 2012, The Offer has without doubt returned to racing in career-best form this year; overcoming a disappointing run of sixth in a minor first-up and luckless run for third in the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) on March 15th with three impressive black type wins.

Charging home to take out the Group 3 NE Manion Cup by four lengths on March 29th, the Montjeu gelding jogged home to win the Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) on April 12th before breaking through for a maiden victory at the highest level of Australian racing in the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) last time out on April 19th.

Allocated the central barrier 6, Waterhouse is confident in-form hoop Tommy Berry will once again get the best from The Offer in the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

Also beginning his racing career under O’Brien in Britain, Foundry has been confirmed for a second-up appearance in the 2014 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes, and will be partnered by leading jockey Craig Williams for the fourth time.

Finishing outside the places just twice in six career starts, Foundry quickly built to the task in his maiden racing preparation; winning the Irish Stallion Farms Maiden (1408m) on debut before placing second to renowned stayer Telescope in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (2414m) in August last year.

Purchased by renowned owner Lloyd Williams after finishing an impressive fifth in the Group 1 Ladbrokes St Leger (2937m) in September, the Galileo entire won his maiden Australian race and finished second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) on March 8th.

Also included in the final field for the 2014 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes is impressive last-start winner Star Rolling, who is offered a great chance of continued success this weekend from the ideal barrier 4.

Securing several impressive results over the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, the Casino Prince gelding was unlucky not to break through for a race win over four starts through the 2014 autumn; finishing second in the Group 3 Carlyon Cup (1600m) and third in the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) most notably.

Charging home to hold off a late fight from Spillway and win the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) first-up on August 16th, trainer Peter Morgan is confident Star Rolling will register career-best form through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival and has confirmed Stephen Baster will retain the ride.

Interestingly the only Chris Waller-trained runner confirmed for the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes, Foreteller will have to overcome the wide and awkward barrier 11 if to figure in contention this weekend.

Securing a commendable total of ten wins and six minor places from 43 competitive starts, the Dansili gelding is a proven performer over the distance, having charged home to win the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes over a mile during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival.

Having finishing fourth in the P.B. Lawrence first-up this time in, Waller is confident of another strong performance from Foreteller this weekend.
